The Eastern Free Labour Day Picnic

Richmond Community Gardens, 235 river road, Christchurch

Not just a holiday but also a celebration and acknowledgment of working people’s victories small and great, Labour Day is The Eastern’s favourite holiday! In times past it was a busy and popular day of picnics, kids games, good cheer and working peoples pride. It is in this tradition the band along with friends, supporters and inspirations including THE MARITIME UNION LYTTELTON LOCAL 43 - SOCIAL END PRODUCT - BAD GIN SANCTUARY – CASSELS - RICHMOND COMMUNITY GARDENS - DELTA COMMUNITY TRUST – THE CANTERBURY SOCIALIST SOCIETY AND FIRST UNION hope to reinvigorate the day with great energy, easy food, a family friendly feeling, excellent local music and short and sweet acknowledgments of the day’s importance and history. In the beaut surrounds of The Richmond Community Gardens, all are welcome to join from 11am for a midday feast of fellowship and good times. Cassels will be bringing down their big old bus offering a free sausage sizzle and non-alcoholic lemonade, there will be some kid friendly activities, and easy flowing music all day thanks to The Eastern, Al Park, Drummie Dan sound system and much more.
